Hedayet Posted February 3, 2007 Share Posted February 3, 2007 The Church of Light (1989), designed by Japanese architect Tadao Ando, is a building imbibed with the power of space and light. Located in the quiet suburb of Ibaraki, Osaka, Japan, it is an addition to an earlier wood structure. The minimal budget resulted in a building in which all was eliminated save for simple, unadorned structure. This, however, is what makes the space so sacred and powerful, combining only the basic architectural elements of floor, wall, and ceiling, with few openings.
