PhotoModeler vs. ImageModeler

Has anyone compared or seen a comparison of Photomodeler Pro by Eos Systems ($895) vs ImageModeler 3.5 by Realviz ($750 or $1100 for dwg compatible version) ?

I'm going to start an urban project where my boss wants the context buildings to be represented with good detail. The new building we are designing would add onto an existing complex and be surrounded by big, multi-story buildings on all sides. Instead of trying to model each one individually I'm considering using a photo modeler to speed up the process.

Has anybody tried this before? Was it easy? Was it successfull?

Thanks.

Well I have some experience with imagemodeler.

And a little bit with photomodeler.

I personally would go with realviz stuff because thay have suite of other apps which are similar in interface and the way you use them. So you learn one and it is easier to start using, say, Matchmover etc.

But is is more expensive allright.

I did some topo re-creation from photos and some buildings. Workflow is pretty fast - in imagemodeler you'll need to make your reference points after wich software locks cameras in - and then you simply click onward in any two photos using helper lines (wich automatically pop-up so just snap on them)

my 2 rubles

I had compared the two (but not USED them) by feature, and had decided to buy PhotoModeler when the job came along that would require it. That hasn't happened yet.

Look at what data you will have to work from, and see which program seems more likely to handle it well.

The program Canoma (from the suicidal company formely known as MetatCreation) had been sold to Adobe but nothing is happening with it. Maybe another buy>kill. It looked promising, being more sculptor-based in how you would build a model. But who needs more grave-ware.
