Aaron2004
Hey guys, I have white stucco surrounded by white trim in an exterior rendering. Both use a combination of Output and VRAY color (no bitmaps). I'm using Linear Color Mapping. Everything is exactly as I want it (almost) except for the white stucco, which is blown out. I can tone down the intensity, but then it becomes grey in other areas. Lowering the 'recieve GI' in a material wrapper gives a similaer result. Any advice? I just want to be able to keep one object from blowing out. Thanks! Aaron
Brian Smith
there's several things you can do, but first, since you mentioned linear, have you tried anything else. I recommend reinhard with a burn value of 0.5. Increasing to 1.0 brings it closer to linear and reducing it brings it closer to exponential. Aaron2004
I have not tried reinhard yet...I was so happy with Linear. I'll try that tomorrow. Is there any other solutions besides changing light mapping? Thanks!
Brian Smith
a couple things that come to mind are: use the output rollout of the map applied to the wall materialapply a falloff or gradient map to the materialrender that particular material in a different pass or with a shadow matte material and adjust in photoshopreduce the receive GI and create a light that only affects that object
