AJLynn
The E6700 is faster. Look at the numbers. And read the backlog. Come on guys.
da-rc
Buy the cheaper one and then overclock. The Core2Duos are really easy to overclock. I only went for an E6300 and have it running 60% faster just on the standard intel heatsink and fan.
AJLynn
...though in general, for anybody out there wanting to overclock the crap out of their CPU, you would be better off having: -A much better heat sink and fan assembly than you need to run it at regular speed, and very good thermal grease to go with it (really extreme overclocking requires liquid cooling) -A better power supply than you would otherwise need (really extreme overclocking also requires a MB with an 8-phase CPU power unit) -Faster RAM than you would otherwise need (don't half-ass it - get good DDR2-800 RAM, because you will be overclocking the RAM as you overclock the CPU)
