AJLynn
That's very interesting. Takes a bit of research (why don't they just give the GHz in the info), but: Xeon 3220 = 4x 2.4 GHz = $530 Xeon 3210 = 4x 2.13 GHz = $423 (prices to take effect in April) They use 775 socket motherboards but I wonder whether there are any special requirements? E.g., can you drop it into a P5B or a 975X etc.? Also, how the pricing will compare to Core2 Quads in April, whether these overclock, etc. If Core2 Quads end up being cheaper, I wonder what the market for these Xeons is. F J
what i still keep wondering about this system is if u run a single render will it activate all of the cores? (4 of them for dual-cores n 8 for quads)
AJLynn
Depends on the multi-threading abilities of your software. Most new stuff will - Cinema, mental ray, Vray, Maxwell (needs 2 licenses for 8 cores and more memory than you can imagine) etc.
