Under what parameter in the water material would you apply the "caustics generator" output file to get the effect?

Do you want to have caustics ?

Just use teh caustics generation in Vray, using photon map could be a better way to get great caustics, but also hard to manage

BTW, i prefer use something like this Caustic generator, just have to generate and apply it to you swimming pool material

Disagree. Better learn how to do it yourself than depend on other people's skills.

About the caustics, there are many ways you can get fast, accurate caustics with VRay. But, if you don't want to get too complicated, you can create a standard light and apply the map created with the Caustics Gen to it as a projector. Very easy and fast.

Thanks. I'm using MR by the way not Vray. I'm not sure that method will work with the mrSun. If I was to do it a secondary light in the scene wouldn't that affect the environment around the pool in addition to the water or should I exclude everything except the water in it's illumination?
