Andy Park
Hi All, I've just learnt Autocad to enable me to be a become a visualiser, I already know 3ds max. I'm trying to find somewhere to get architectural plans for houses and offices that I can use for practice. I've searched the net and all I can find is floor plans. I need something that give me all the elevations to make a 3d model. Can anyone help or even donate some dwg files.
neko
i always recommend a book when people ask me this question.... "key buildings of the twentieth century" by richard weston has over 100 important buildings in plan, section and elevation (and includes a CD of them as well) the CAD drawings are okay - not really consistent or accurate, but certainly a great starting point. Andy Park
go and take some photos Think you missed the point here, I need plan & side elevation in DWG format to practice turning them into 3d models.
alexg
I think some of the Frank Lloyd Wright books got the plans and elevations in them. You can usually find them in the libraries. The best covered architecture projects are the oldies, like Palladio Villas and such. I have stumbled into some books that have all the plans, elevs, sectional details, even the ornamental detail. For newer projects, the GA Documents series magazine usually have at least 1 elevation and all the plans for the projects covered.

arc-dave
another idea is to log into your local planning dept and look at a online planning submission (it will be a pdf file most likely) save one and use that as a template benefits 1 it's a real world project 2 you'll have the chance to recad a project - i sometime have to work with freehand drwgs or translate sketches etc into cad first before i get into the 3d element
