studio2s
One way you can approach this...and this will really hlep if you have edge or trim tiles or even a design in your tiles. 1) Isolate your floor object. 2) Render it 3) Save it 4) In Photoshop, you can now add any designs or colors you would like. 5) Apply your new map to your floor, and it should work. Another thing to do is to look at the diffuse slot of your tile material. There are many patterns there that may work for you. These will be procedural, so they will render a little better than a bitmap. There are quite a few tweaks in there you can play with as well. I hope this helps a little. ronel
aside from Scott Barton suggestions you can also try these: 1. model your room, floor wall ceiling. 2. then model a the pattern for your tile arrangements. each pattern should be a single model or just categorized your model so you cant be confused later which is tile 1, tile 2 and so on. 3.press m and the material editor will pop up. select one slot. from the diffuse slot click the none, then a new dialog box will appear, click bitmap, then another dialog box will appear and browse for your tile image. Select the material you want. then apply it to your model, same thing for tile 2 and tile 3. adjusting the bitmaps can be done later if you want
lecameleon
I think we are missing his point here... I can only assume that he is asking if there could be different types of tiles used on the same floor in a pattern. He probably wants the floor outer peripheral edge to have one kind of tile and the central part of the floor alternating between two other kind of tiles.. Also, he is trying to figure out how real-world tiles and patterns could be used in 3ds max... Is that right, my friend al-farooq??? Ok.. first case.. you would probably need to learn a lot about UVW mapping and tiling.. No small task if you are a beginner. Second case.. using the tiles and patterns locally available.. Use a digital camera and obtain some images of the tiles from the local factory... or scan the pictures of the tiles. Use these images you obtain in the diffuse slot for the floor material. I am sorry if this sounds a bit complicated. I am sure you can learn how to do this quite easily. Ask the veterans here for help and look at the tutorials available online.. There are lots of people here who would tell you how to go about it.. Cheers mate.. hope I am not making a fool of myself by the way Hehehe...
