mskin
i think this is a mental ray issue. I want to render a building with a site background. there is lots of glass in the building so i need to see the site beyond. when i replace the physical sky background with a tiff, it doesn't render. USE MAP is checked, so im really not sure what the deal is.
Justin Hunt
Have you tried a Jpg instead, Mental can have problems with tiff (not that I have experienced any of them) There is also an option to drop a map into the Physical Sky, cant remeamber where and as I am rendering at the moment cant check. nisus
Mental Ray can't read tiffs with a LZW-compression (because they don't agree with the copyrights of the compnay who does the LZW - they would have to pay some insane amount, so they simply don't support it!) This won't give a lot of problems because one can simply avoid the LZW. Anyway, if you are using Xfrog voor trees & shrubs, beware to convert your files!! For background issues: Add a physical sky, drag the map into the material editor, and add a map in the 'use custom background map', next DON'T FORGET to turn OFF Aerial Perspective (in your camera properties). rgds, nisus
