Danny2005
Recently I have started noticing strange artifacts appearing on my renders. Some areas are blacked out, others are shaded strangely and the occassional pink speckled effect. Originally it seemed that the artifacts were restricted to the sun shades, but I see them on the glass and other objects. I am not sure this is relevant, but it was rendered over a network in 10 strips. After looking at the log I see that certain strips took 3 to 4 times as long to render and that they coincided with the location of the artifacts. Anyone had similar issues? studio2s
We need more information. What is your lighting setup? As in, are you using Mental Ray? What are your settings?
Danny2005
Hey,.. sorry about the lack of details. Here are a couple screen shots of my settings... using MR. Cheers!
studio2s
Ouch...sorry bro. I am just learning MR in Max 9, and the interface is quite different. I'm not so adept at it yet, so I wouldn't venture to tell you to tweak your scene. The last response I got was to RTFM, so be prepared to get flamed for asking a simple question. Danny2005
Hey Brian, Yes,.. I am still working with Max6 I will do as you suggest,... rendering without FG or GI and get back to you asap. This has only recently started,.. so it is a little strange. Cheers! Danny2005
After running some quick renders with GI, GI + FG, FG, NO GI or FG,... still getting artifacts. Of the materials that seem to be affected I have included some screen shots. I am not sure if I mentioned this before... but the appearance is completely random except for its general location. Your ideas or suggestions would be appreciated. Cheers!

nisus
Hi, I regret to see this topic in the 3dsmax section... Placing your topics in the right section can help others. I have not seen this thread because I don't check the max section that much. Also, a small hint like 'MR' in the title could have caught my attention quicker... rgds, nisus To studio2: The last response I got was to RTFM, so be prepared to get flamed for asking a simple question. I thought this issue was solved?
Rex Perlado
Hi there fellows! Just new to this forum. I've been using MAX 4.2 because latest versions are quite expensive. Anyway, try checking the box at the MATERIAL EDITOR (2-sided) for the chosen material and afterwards try to adjust your UVW maps settings. Hope this helps.
