bootup issues

alright, my damn machine won't bootup and it's afterhours so I can't call Boxx to get some friggin help [note to self ... why did I pay all that $$$ for non-24 hr service?] so I really hope someone here can help me out a bit. Basically, I had to do a hard shutdown due to illustrator/formz/acad/ freezing everything up and now the boot sequence stops at loading the windows taskbar... all of my desktop icons show up but the mouse is frozen and niether the start button nor the icons on the bottom right of the taskbar show... what gives?

 

I've tried restarting the system via hard-boot several times to no avail... is there something else I can do? I can't think of anything other than trying to sleep off the frustration and hope the mighty computer gods above take pity on thee and restore my machine to working order when I wake... too bad I was counting on pulling an all-nighter!
