How to make good Lighting Map?

Hi all.. And sorry for my poor english ! I'll try to explain you my problem with Vray and the render of my lighting maps. I use 3ds max 8 and Vray 1.5.

I want to create lighting maps on my building (in order to use my model in a 3d real time engine) but i always have a noise on it, even if i put subdivs params at the max (the duration of my last try for a 512*512 was about 1 hour :()

In the render to texture i use Vray lighting map(Perhaps it's better to use Complete map.. I'll try) My Vray settings : Irradiance first (hight 40/30) and then Light Cache (1000,0.02). The rQMC sampler: min sample 8, Global subdivs 10, noise 0.001 and adaptative amount 0.85...

My scene render seems normal, without all the noise which appear in the render to texture.

Did someone meet the same problem?? Thx

Hi,

Your IR map and Light Cache settings seem ok, so try your QMC settings on:

Adaptive amount = 0.85

Min samples = 12

Noise Threshold = 0.03

Global subdivs multiplier = 1.0

I think you may be using settings for an earlier version of Vray.

Good Luck.

Thx for your help ;)

I am trying a new render with this values.

However, are you sure it can be better only by changing the noise? Because the new one (0.03) should increase the noise instead of decrease it

I've put the global subdivs to 10 hoping a better quality...

Render is now complete but i ve always the noise on my Light maps

I think i ll probably use Mental ray
