Hi..All..!

I know that this Q. might be silly for many....But pls. help me in this. I don’t know & stuck:confused:

Anybody who knows.. which is the best way to export model from Form Z to 3D max & which can solve the following problem too.

when you import the file in max & you texture it,

After that your client does some changes in model.././/??]!!

& you have to do it in Form Z ..Now you have to reimport it in max..

now what to do so that your new model takes all the texture automatically from old scene in max...

Pls. Help:(

Learn to organize your model by such that each material is its own layer. Once you have completed your model in FormZ save it out to a .DWG file.

Now in max import the DWG using the File Link Manager (under your file menu)

Once you set all your textures and lighting once per layer it will hold through revisions.

Now whenver you revise something in formZ you will save out a new DWG, pop open MAX and hit the update button on the File Link Manager.

All your textures should stay in place on the layers and all the new/revised objects will be added/removed. If for some reason you do lose your textures and everything goes red, turn on the "reload options" and on the advanced tab for the file link manager, make sure the "keep scene material definitions" is marked.

attached are two screen dumps from my work flow between FormZ and Max. Notice the layer pallettes in both. And how you don't have to worry about materials anymore in FormZ since you are just going to set them in max anyways, you can just use colors to stand out and make it easier to work. I don't even name surface styles in formZ I just use random colors.

Thank You very much Kitts..!

Yes I always prefer to work in organized layers, till date the requirement was to render in Lightwave, & as you might be knowing that in LW we just have to replace the .lwo file & you are done.

I was new for this process in max...

So, great help..Thx again Kitts...! :)
