a old house creating with single object

I've never really seen a building of this scale modeled as one object, I'm curious how many of you out there go about modeling in this way. Do you find it more efficient? I know it's better on system resources.

However, I usually model in a kind of elemental way as separate objects and try to maximize the use of instances. I guess this depends on the repetitiveness of the building.

Just curious to hear some of the pros and cons anyone out there has found to doing it one way or another.

Looking good so far emaarns.

I can see how some people find it easier.

But as discussed in the 'Optimisation' thread, you win about 3 seconds of rendertime at the end of the day. Vray does not calculate geometry thats not visible. So keeping it as one one object might give you slightly smoother navigation in Viewport, but other than that it has no real advantages except for your personal ease of use if you prefer it this way.

I personally like my random multi colour mesh of different objects, I find it easier to work with.

My 2c, all in good spirit.

Peace :D
