kevin3600
How does one transform (move) an object relative to another. For instance after temporarily placing a rectangle for a window opening, how can I move it a precise distance from say an existing door opening? Much appreciated. creasia
There are a few different ways to do this. Here is my favorite. Follow the method described in this CGA tutorial; http://www.cgarchitect.com/resources/tutorials/smoke3d/tutorial13.asp Next to get precise movement within the edit poly slice modifier or within the Move, Rotate or Scale tools you may press F12 at any time to type in these increments. Justin Hunt
http://www.tbmax.net/ search for the X-Form transforms or linked Xfrorm (something like that) Its a tut about how to link windows to a sub-object so that if you move one or the other the hole/ window moves with it Even if you dont find the tut there are excellent web casts about the fundimentals of Max/Viz, well worth the time to watch JHV
