alfienoakes
I know there have been a few threads in the past about this.. nothing extensive.. but today my wrist is playing up big time. I need to try and sort this out, so I ask the general question to you all that have suffered with some form of RSI: What sorted it for you? Which mouse did the trick? Did you use a Tablet, or the Vertical mouse, or the Quil (think thats it). If someone had a "eureka" moment with one, I would love to know what it was. I am seriously considering the Wacom tablet, (seen the thread on this) or the vertical mouse, one of which I had. It just seemed to move the problem on a bit, from my wrist to the forearm . Any comments etc would appreciated. I have to stop typing now, my wrist hurts too much... Andy

William Alexander
Simply finding the right work top & arm support to keep your elbow to wrist fixed in one position, for the most part and just use the pivot in your wrist and finger tips to move the mouse. For me keeping the forearm level works best. I have carpentry related tendonitis/tunnel carpel problems.... I'm dead serious the proper postion and support is the only way to minimize these issues. Heat 15 minutes/Cold 15 minutes is probably the best way to reduce the current pain. Get a wrist brace for night time or wrap your hand in the 'Neutral postion' using a blanket helps too, if the problem tends to be chronic. BTW I use a wacom for all my Photoshop work and frequently in Modo for repetative work. Makes a big difference, though not quite as productive as a mouse for CG modeling in most cases, imho Hope it helps some Wax
jackb602
The biggest difference for me came when I bought a desk with a "keyboard tray" about 4 inches below the desktop. With the mouse at this level, everything feels much more comfortable. A good mouse pad with a wrist rest helps as well, and I really like the Logitech MX 1000 mouse. But I think the change in height helps the most. Jack
Justin Hunt
Just remeamber that extended periodes of time using the Wacom will give RSI the the hand. When I am painting with the Wacom after a while (a few hours)I cant open my hand any more and takes a day to totally relax. Besides that I recomend the Wacom JHV

alfienoakes
Cheers guys... Kippu and Randy.. I like the idea of getting a massage, I'm a bit worried about where to go though, dont want to get arrested..!! Think I should try getting some beer in though, I always think thats worth a try. Wax and Jack.. thanks for the tips. It is this damn mouse and the position I sit defo'.. I am gonna try and "re-invent" how I work, along with some new equipment. Justin... I have been looking at the Wacom tablet.. might give the sideways mice one more go, and then see if I need the tablet.. but I do like the idea of that.. So.. in summary: Living where I do, massages are hard to come buy, so Im off to Soho, with a 24 pack of "wife beater" (stella lager) to find a nice lady who can ease my pain.. Cheers Andy.. Oh yeah.. any other suggestions are still welcome.. wil read them as long as I dont get arrested in Soho...
agatsuma
Keep your wrist straight, your forearm supported on a pad and keyboard angled away from you about 7 degress. Good luck. Lorin

aaron-cds
I just bought the mx revolution too. I also have a 3dconnexion space navigator so the middle mouse button isn't an issue. I like both so far for relieving my wrist.
alfienoakes
Its not bad the MX revolution.. nice looking.. Just spoken to my friendly cad dealer as well.. we have about 50 licenses of Acad with them.. all on subsciption.. So I asked if he could get me the Waconm Intuos3 graphics tablet as a demo........ he said no problem, leave it with him.. So hopefully, I will have a go on one of these very soon. Bit cheeky, but if you dont ask... Andy
