salf
Ok, theres a chance a I'll buy a new PC, for personal use (games mostly but also for work. Now, I understand that SLI techonology and having 2 vid cards is mostly for game performance, right?.....but imagine this: I have a pretty nice PC, lets say 2 gb RAM (maybe more, lets go with 4 GB), it has 2 CPUs (wahtever intel or amd) and SLI technology with 2 Video cards and dual monitors, now heres my question: Can I have each CPU, vidcard and monitor on 2 different apps at the same time? Can I play a game in 1 monitor and with the second monitor I have someother application, dunno, Word, Photoshop, etc.....nothing really heavy like rendering an animation...just some other basic app.
AJLynn
That wouldn't be SLI - SLI is using multiple video cards to drive the same display (it's kind of like interlacing), what you're talking about is 2 monitors on 2 video cards, which happens all the time. Whether you can have a setup with 2 monitors on 2 cards and then have the cards do SLI on one of the monitors when you just want to frag at a higher frame rate is something I don't know. But in general, you can use Affinity to assign taks to CPUs, and which video card is handling which windows will depend on which monitor the windows are on, though some games might not cooperate with this kind of thing.
