nisus
Hi All, I've customized ther FG settings in "mentalray_fg_presets.ini" but the presets don't show up in Max. How can I make this work? What did I forget to do? rgds, nisus
Justin Hunt
Load up the 'render Shortcut" tab. This gives you the oportunity to save a render preset. one of the options is to save the MentalRay settings, as well as all the others. The preset is saved into the user documents and settings folder for Max As to the ini file I cant say just yet, still working it out JHV
nisus
Yup, I know... but I'm specifically trying to get my own presets in the FG settings only ;-) btw, I find the renderpresets very easy. Do you know a way to display more in that window? nisus
pixelperfectg
It's not looking for the mentalray_fg_presets.ini file located in the root folder of your install. Instead, it's referencing the same .ini file that it installed in your "my documents" folder. I've successfully configured mine (see attachment). I edited the .ini file in this location: C:\Documents and Settings\"whatever name"\Local Settings\Application Data\Autodesk\3dsmax\9 - 32bit\enu\plugcfg
nisus
Tnx Jeff, I have this problem with most of the plugins and CUI i'm trying to install. Didn't think MR would suffer the same prob... I don't like that LOCAL thing at all... What do you think of it? nisus
pixelperfectg
I don't like that LOCAL thing at all... What do you think of it?I"m not a fan. Especially when an install clutters up my HDD's with duplicate files. I mean, why install all these duplicate .ini files in the 3dsmax root folder when it's ignoring them anyway... nisus
same here... even with different users, I don't see a real benefit... if everyone customises his max a lot, one cannot easily crossover... which is not good when people are trying to help each other... In real companies, most people have amachine for themselves... so I don't really see why 'local' is default... it doesn't make sense to help out hobbiest... I prefer rigid standard interfaces... nisus
