nisus
Hi all, I'm trying to copy my button and modifier sets* to another machine, without having to redo everything manually. I can save my configured button/modifier sets, but I don't know how to copy it from one machine to another. Any ideas? rgds, nisus *button and modifier sets configure the layout of the modify and utility tab
BrianKitts
all that info is kept in the 3dsmax.ini file. Take that file from the machine that you set your preferences on, and copy that to all the other machines. If your machines aren't all clones it might be safer to just copy that section of the ini (use the search function to find the right part).....and paste into the new machine, but a total replacement would be quicker. only3d
hmmm, dont know about the ini file.. wouldnt it change the rest of the settings from the other pc? sounds like abit of "overkill" what i would do is go to customize- save custom ui- choose the cui file format and there u have it. a menu ready to install wherever u want.. and as many times.. i use this method for my students so they dont have to work too hard.. nisus
Hi only, This is exactly the PROBLEM: The button/modifier sets do not get saved in the CUI... so I'm figuring out another way... for the 3dsmax.ini : Gonna check it out, but I' m not sure it's in there for now... will keep you updated ,-) rgds, nisus
only3d
thats weird... u know what? i have this ready-made toolbar (i actually got it here) which i edited to my needs. perhaps it already has what u need, so if u like i can upload it here then u can just tweek it a little. after that itll keep for good! nisus
only bad news for now... sometimes max takes settings from the local drive, sometimes from the c:\3dsmax9-directory, somtimes from the central drive... there is no logic in when max takes what... YUIY! (pffff) nisus
quizzy
this is not really difficult: go check your 3dsmax ini-file. Somewhere it should say [ ModifierSets ] Make your own modifier set named nisus's pro-tools or something. What you will see after you closed max is the folowing: ModifierSetName12=nisus's pro-tools ModSetEntry12=756131754 213087256 283338281 240408334 CurrentModSet=12 this line is what you should copy to all 3dsmax ini-files on your network comps..
