guitarmunkee
Hey guys this is a scene from a animation I've been working on for a client. I think I'm missing something with the lighting, I know there are some grass displacement issues that I'm working on. But I just need some suggestions for lighting because I see some exterior shots on here that are just mind blowing. Is it the textures? or just light settings? Thanks. BrianKitts
if I were to change anything I would lighten up the sky a little bit and the grass scale looks a little large. You might also want to drop the grass object an inch or two....the black is showing through from the displaced edge. only other thing I could recommend would be to work on the tiling on the asphalt.... it may be a bit dark as well. the house looks great.... leed
I think your sun position is very high. it might look a bit better to lower it a bit, also the stone texture looks a bit big, can you get some 3d trees in, they work better in animations. edit...if you have time it would be nicer to model those tiles Lee
alias_marks
I might say that the tone and character of the image is lacking a little "punch." What kind of color mapping are you using? It may just be the way the rpc's are lit, but it's lacking some contrast overall. Maybe if used an Ambient Occlusion pass to help give it some depth. Landscaping is one of those things that you don't notice too much if you do well, but when it's lacking detail, it kinda jumps out. If you could, I would definitely think about painting a custom asphalt texture, and modeling curbs & control joints. Can't wait to see some short clips, it's coming along well and I wish you luck. So far so good. Take Care, Michael
guitarmunkee
My trees are modeled speed trees, I only use those because I need a lot of trees in my scene. Plus modeled roof will kill my render time because I have over 150 houses in the actual animation. This is a render I'm showing a client this afternoon so I need to make these fixes today so thanks for the suggestions guys.
