cloaked_spectre
Greeting all, Has anyone figured out a way to make the raytraced shadows become "soft" & "transparent" (there, but see thru) when using this material as a ground plane? I'm using mental ray as the renderer...they are either hard, dark black or diffused with color... I've tried working with shadow brightness settings, but end up with shadows that diffuse that default white matte color into them.....also, where does tha default white color (that is the alpha) come from? is that possibly from the 'global' material? the several pass shadow baking method is fine for composites if you have six months to complete a single static view...but not conducive to time-restrained work that I (and most of us do)....ultimately, i would like to to put composite grass, trees, shrubs, etc behind it......if i can figure this out, I'll be a rockstar of the arch. rendering world..... ~~~~~ the problem resides in mental ray and has not been fixed in any subsequent releases.....work-around solutions to this are tedious: http://forums.cgsociety.org/showthread.php?t=118676
