Ernest Burden III
Hey, I was going to post that! I saw it (I hate to admit this) as one of those annoying ads on CNN's site. But the 3ds.com site was overloaded. I had seen the commercial once or twice on TV and was hoping to track down a web version. Its a great effort, and particularly valuable for how to show a work of architecture as a fluid process, not a block of granite dropped onto an unsuspecting public. And its NPR embedded in a PR live-shot, and it works.
Jeff Mottle
I just emailed them to see if I can track down the studio who worked on this. I'll try to get an interview and article done.

vizwhiz
ok Then let me add something equally more stoopit since we evidently arent doing Challenges anymore how about a community design project where we come up with a cool idea? kind of sort of like The commerical in concept at least not exactly The same and do a collaborative piece of work That reflects The way cool Talent That is here at CGA, something That does not necessarily has a deadline just something really wild and cool and innovative individual, Team work, or community collaborative, just do something just an idea Thanks Randy

Tommy L
I'll have a slice of that pie. I'm not good enough...ahem...I mean I dont have enough time to devote to the AVC so this will be a welcome 'joining in' thing.
alias_marks
I'd totally be up for something like that. I'll see if I can't start up an outline/storyboard of an innovative project, post er up and see what everyone else has to add. Or multiple people can post up their ideas for a project too. and go from there.
Sawyer
Sounds like it could be good. I would love to see something that we can't do individually either because of its size or complexity or lack of resources. And if it was documented so we could learn along the way. Tommy L
It would be nice if a person from one of those online super render-farms just happened to be a cga member reading this thread......
alias_marks
I think to start with it's important to really understand what we are trying to accomplish. Then like Sawyer said, document it, communicate, share it well, and this will make it easier to possibly recruit a render farm (if we in fact even need one based on our larger vision and goals). Ernest Burden III
This discussion really deserves a thread of its own. Randy, since its your idea, would you do the honors?
