antonio_frias
What are the optimal settings to use in the Curve Color Correction window in the Vray frame buffer? Max gamma is set a 2.2 and I am rendering using LWF; Should I even be touching the curve color correction or is it better to save out as exr or hdri and use exposure control in Photoshop? rivoli
I am rendering using LWF; if you're gamma correcting via the color mapping rollout, say linear multiply with a 2.2 gamma, then you don't have to touch the curves in the vfb, it would actually double correct any image. if you're not using any color mapping, then you can adjust the curves and compensate your monitor gamma with a 0.45 inverse curve (assuming you're correctly calibrated at 2.2). to apply this curve, you basically grab the upper bezier handle of the 0.0 point, and drag it up to 0.64 on the "Y" axis. set the other 1.0 point to free instead of bezier smooth (right click on it to change this). although this may look like a display only thing, as in the mfb, gamma correcting via the vfb will actually apply the new gamma to your rendering, in case you decide to save them. this means that it will correctly affect any ldr output, but it will effectively double correct any hdr or exr output. if you don't want to use the curves you can simply click on the display color in srgb space button, this has the same effect, but it won't affect any output (as for the mfb).
