Aaron2004
Hey all, I have used the main VIZ material editor for a LONG time. When I switched over to VRAY materials, I knew there was a learning curve, but I thought I would grasp it after a while and a few tutorials. Well, I still can't get one thing. I really REALLY miss being able to change the glossiness, specular level and shader types (blinn, phong, etc). Right now, it seems all I can do is make things reflective or clear. Are there any tutorials out there that help you merge from VIZ/MAX materials to VRAY? Or can anybody help me with making things glossy (not reflective, though) or matte, like cloth? Thanks! sterealkey
yes Aaron, I know what you mean, I also felt like that when I just switched to Vray. If you bring the Reflective glossiness down (default is 1), then it would blur your reflections, and in the process give you a more matte feel. Here is a 3 page tutorial, it explains everything really well. http://www.aversis.be/extra_tutorials/vray_basic_material_settings_01.htm Its very important to know what each of the parameters do, so by looking at a material you would know what to set to get it to be realistic.
