koruski
Same as mine , I have an AMD 64 Ax2 5400+, with 4 GB Ram of corsair dual channel and the company of corsair have their own answer: Windows XP, since it is a 32-bit operating system, has the ability to see 4GB total memory. However, XP uses the top part of memory for system housekeeping, video card, etc. so this memory is not made available to the operating system. In a system such as yourse, 800MB or so is about what XP would remove from the system memory pool. So I suspect this is why you are not seeing the complete 4GB. If you were running a 64-bit OS, you would not see this problem, as the amount of addressable memory is much larger. There is a 64-bit version of XP, but most people use 32-bit due to driver support issues. The 64-bit version of Vista will likely gain a sizeable following due to support for DX10, and because Microsoft is working hard to ensure driver support. So this might be the eventual OS for you if you are interested in running with 4GB or more. Hope this helps! Regards, Corsair Tech Support
