RyanSpaulding
How does one learn how to do this well? Right now, we use self adhesive foam core and slowly lay the image on there, push out to get rid of bubbles, and then use an exactoknife to cut the board to size. Is there a better way? I don't like the way it looks...borderline sloppy to to not perfect edges...
Chad Warner
You could always send it out? I think it costs us $12 or $14 for a 24x36 board.
Crazy Homeless Guy
yep. send it out and have it vacuum mounted. ....at least if you want to be sure it lasts.
STRAT
we send all ours out too. the only time we do it in-house is if it's a megga on the spot rush with no time to send out. in this situation my boss is happy for the more 'rustic' approach. but yes, if time permits allways get it done properly. John Dollus
http://www.binding.com/catalog.aspx?catid=FoamboardCutters $500 for the basic one after 25 mounts, it usually pays for itself though the $1000 model looks a bit easier and faster to use. As for bubbles, it is an aquired skill. The self adhesive stuff is worlds easier than the old spray mount stuff. Back in the day, I once thought I was going to be fired after a horrific spray mount job (I had only been with the firm a week). Needless to say, I became quite good at mounting after that. Just don't peel off the adhesive backing all at once. Only peel back a couple inches to get the mount started and then roll the mount on a bit at a time while pulling the backing out from under it.
