hey guys, heres a quick job ive been working on 4 2hours this morning, i know it still needs a lot of work, planning on putting some people in, table and chairs outside the cafes, and some internal modelling still to be done, but any comments or recommendations anyone can offer, would be much appreciated...... thanks dan

oh yeah the logo and the design of the buildings were all done by me too :)

and it was done in c4d v10.

Heres the beginnings of the internal view of a store....

rendered with c4d...

rendered with stochastic radiosity:

settings as:

strenght 100%

accuracy 70%

prepass 1/3

diffuse 1

stochastic samples 500

any comments or recommendations would be much appreciated on how i can improve the image, its currently taking 2.30 hours to render, with one omni light for external and one area light for internal.....

brave man because it's slow. especially as your scene starts to get detailed. yup, i'd be chuffed to bits if i could render in sto mode every time, but it aint gonna happen. and i'm soon going onto oct-processing.

that scene looks nice, but 2 and a half hours is rediculous. you could get an identical image to render in normal radisoity mode in under 10-15 mins. the reason not many use sto-mode in anger.

to improve the scene?

i'd use 1 external infinate light as the sun with area shads, and an omni in the middle of the room, set to ambient, maybe at 10%, with no shadows. make sure far ranges or fall off is used. a touch of localised ao might also look nice.

at the moment your inside white wall where the window is is unnaturally brightly lit.

yeah i guess i know what you mean, i wish i was going to oct processing, ive just purchased a mac pro, and theres now rumours about a new 8 core mac pro surfacing.... lol.

think il continue to play about with it, .....

maybe play about with standard mode again and see what i can get out of it....

thanks again

I think youve maybe positioned your direct light a bit badly (for the external). Everything is backlit. If you put the light over one of the viewers shoulders, then you'll get a lot more contrast in the image. Also, specular highlights and shadow depth will come into play. Tou will have an almost symmetrical composition, but the play of light will really keep the image interesting.
