martin walker
Is there a way of speeding up rendering of alpha channels in v-ray...any cheap / dirty tricks to quicken things up ? thanks in advance
BrianKitts
your alpha shouldn't slow down your render at all.... just use the render elements to save out the alpha in addition to your actual render. On the other hand if you are referring to going to a scene and just rendering out the alpha only, you could use the material over-ride and make everything a simple plain material color with no reflections. (as long as you don't see the alpha through glass... in which case you can't use just the over-ride). could turn off GI as well to speed it up what exactly is it you are trying to do? Chad Warner
Make sure you are using vray materials. Also, set the blurring in the bitmap to .001 and the bitmap filtering to none. That should help speed things up.
