Brian Smith
Without both competing formats, imagine how much more we would have to pay to get in the HD game. I've always thought whoever can sell to the masses first will win. My bet is still with HD-DVD. http://www.engadget.com/2007/03/20/toshiba-drops-hd-dvd-msrp-effective-4-1-07/
manta
I don't understand why they're so expensive to begin with, its not a huge leap in technological advancement, if they charged $70 for them, millions of people would go out and buy one almost immediately... Tommy L
Toshiba sold equipment for manufacturing "quiet" submarine parts to the russians. Big deal. The US is responsible for arming half the world.....why not let the Japs arm the other half? If america truly believes in democracy and a free market..... Nestle is the one to avoid if you want to feel warm and content about your purchasing power. Read about powdered milk marketing strategies in third world countries, now that will make your blood boil. Taking advantage of under-educated, pregnant starving people, now therees a clever dollar. Sawyer
Taking advantage of under-educated, pregnant starving people, now therees a clever dollar. Are you refering to baby formula? I heard about that stuff. "How dare your bodies be able to produce a superior food! We will crush you poor and malnurished people!"
AJLynn
So, the Toshiba thing was 20 years ago and the Nestle thing was 25 or 30 years ago. Most of the people involved probably don't work there anymore. Do we need to be flaming about this now?
raterry
I think BluRay wins out anyway.

ChooChoo
BluRay. Holds more and it's on the PS3 isn't it?
raterry
BluRay. Holds more and it's on the PS3 isn't it? Yep. Plus if you see and or hear commercials for new movies coming out they say "now available on DVD and BluRray disk" most of the time. I've haven't heard any that mention HDDVD in some time now. Plus "BlueTooth" is becoming more and more widely used and name recognition will, I believe transfer to BluRay. logical or not. That's my guess.
