Guest STU_P
Can anyone recomend a good website for downloading tv programs, of course i only want to know about legitimate ones because using sites that offer them for free without permission would just be illegal and wrong wouldn't it? mbowers
What about Apple iTunes Music Store? You can download Movies and Television programs, it's not free however.

Crazy Homeless Guy
I saw one of the major US networks starting to offer shows on its web site, I think it was nbc.com. i watched a couple episodes of Lost on ABC's website. i was actually quite surprised by the experience. there was an option for high resolution, and pause, and the commercials were actually more user friendly than they are on the regular tube. on the commercials, there was only one sponsor, remax. they interuppted the show 3 times for a 50 second or so commercial break. the nice thing, ...one it went to commercial, it gave a timer countdown until the show started again, and it paused before it started again. that way, you could wonder off, and do something else, and not have to worry about missing anything. when you got back, you just hit play again. yes, it is not tivo, but it was not as bad as what i was expecting. asd sfsdgsa
AJLynn
That sounds much better than I would have expected - I was expecting as much advertising as they could fit in there, maybe even a scrolling ad banner, but it sounds like it's got less advertising than the TV version... Crazy Homeless Guy
yes, a great deal less than the tv counterpart. the only real downfall was that you couldn't fullscreen, but the resolution was better than NTSC by far. remax's logo remained on the screen at all times, but not covering any part of the picture. edit: you can go near full screen, or rescaled to near full screen. it looks like 16:9 with a reasonably small add at the top... http://dynamic.abc.go.com/streaming/landing
Sawyer
I don't have cable I don't even get good tv reception but I do like itunes. I watch the Daily Show every morning at the gym, then my wife watches it again that night at the gym. It costs 10 bucks for 16 shows and I know I could watch it for free online but I work out for 5 hours a week and sometimes I get so flubbing bored. Its worth it. AJLynn
BTW, Apple just announced iTV is now available. Next big idea: get a bigass RAID (probably will need to be 2 TB) and put my entire AV content collection in Apple format, and run iTV. Imagine the possibilities. I just need software to automate transferring DVD and XVID content to Apple, and $800... which brings me to: Now accepting freelance contract work, $800/day! Crazy Homeless Guy
i guess ABC will be delivering true high-def through their website starting this fall. currently the full screen shows they deliver are at 800x600. starting this fall they will be at 1280x720. sweet. http://arstechnica.com/news.ars/post/20070516-abcs-decision-to-stream-shows-in-hd-may-have-bandwidth-consequences.html
AJLynn
That's amazing. And with an HDTV with a computer input and a laptop, you can handle that native at 720P.
