Help , chair won't render

Hi

 

I downloaded this chair from the moroso web site as it is the one we want to use, so it is all legal.

When I import it into Max 9, it looks fine in the view port as a wire frame, and comes up an editable spline.

But won't render.

Can somebody please help.

 

Or if you can sort it repost it a 3ds or a max file.

Looks like it's a bunch of splines.. Takes ages to import, and am trying to weld now.. but machine just hanging.. I guess there's something up with the splines which is why they're not rendering..

 

Possibly a surface modifier might work..

 

Not sure what else to suggest.. Should be easy enough to remodel the base, and the seat might be easy to do by extracting just the front part of the mesh and putting a surface modifier on it..
