Performance Loss???

Hi All

I have been getting a WARNING! when I render my model in Vary its says the following:- Performance loss, the number of rendering threads (8) is greater than the number of light cache (4), some threads will be lost!!

 

could any one tell me what this means??

in your light cache settings..... set the number of lightcache passes equal to the number of processors you have in your system.

I have a 2 quad core xean processor with 4gb of ram... so that waould mean I should change it to 8 yes! will this seep it up?

if you get 8 buckets when you render you should set it to 8. You might notice a speed difference if you time it, but it probably won't be something that you outright notice and fall off your chair.

I now have a message saying Raytracer Out Of Memory??

 

There isn't enough memory for the raytracer to build its acceleration data structures? Wot does this mean.

pretty much what it says....you are running out of memory...

 

check out this thread.... the second error discussed (not the first one) is what you are running into and then some solutions are given.
