Geoffc
Ok, between max, win64 and vray DR, sometimes I wanna toss the pc's off a bridge and get a 'real' job! I just installed Max32 bit version on my Win64 system, so I can use some win32 laptops for DR slaves. and, when starting, the loading screen comes up with 'initializing max..' for a few secs, then disappears, never to return. I uninstalled, reinstalled, restarted, etc to no avail. anyone else have trouble running this config (max32 on win64)?
Chad Warner
Works fine for me.
Geoffc
Well, has anyone had a similar prob, no matter what version max, and discovered a work-around? ie, initial screen pops up, it says initializing 3d max, pauses, then disappears before doing anything more. Geoffc
FWIW, here's the exact same problem someone had: http://discussion.autodesk.com/thread.jspa?messageID=5451855 perhaps its an install issue, and not related to win64 at all. btw, i did try all the fixes listed in that thread with no luck. I also sent a support request, so I will report back if I get anywhere.
Geoffc
ok, here's my finding, if anyone else actually has this problem/setup: I was fortunate enough to find another autodesk post where someone figured out that you have to uninstall Nod32 (if this is your antivirus) to get max 9 to start up, not just close/disable it. Which is really too bad, since I like Nod32.
AJLynn
It does work with Avast.
Chad Warner
That would explain why I don't have any issues. I'm using AVG with no problems.
Geoffc
does this mean I have to buy and load the full Norton Suite so that my computer runs at 1/3rd speed?
AJLynn
I'm using Avast antivirus and it doesn't suck.
Geoffc
at my office, the 'genius' before me installed full versions of norton, including every lame memory sucking 'feature' on the machines. i have since been able to purge others' computers and simply install avg or avast. every new dell we get, my first task is to wrestle it free of macafee. I just liked Nod as far as a payservice, seemed very bulletproof. but AVG I think did very well in a recent study.
