link from word to autocad

First post in the autocad section,

 

Just been asked by a Colleague of mine if theres a way she can place a link within a word document to a cad drawing.

 

We use 2007

just use a 'hyperlink' (?) but you still need the acad app. to view it......

AS mentionned before, hyperlink would be best and the other option would be convert your DXF ato PDF. More ppl would be able to view it that way

That was my first idear but doesnt that just link from autocad to a supporting file.

 

She wants to do it the other way round, link from a word document into a cad file. She doesnt want PDFs as she sometimes needs to enter the drawing to copy out or make alterations. (She has autocad 07 on her system).

no, it is nearly universal in all programs....... in MS Word, go to insert/hyperlink/then set path to .dwg file
