archkre
I am working for a new firm, they work with adt2007, but they don't want to buy 3DSMax or Viz to do 3D renderings How can get an acceptable 3D renderings just with ADT2007? What is your workflow? Thanks
AJLynn
Define "acceptable" - ADT includes a program called Viz Render, which is not Viz. It can do okay rendering, but not at the level of the real high end stuff that you see on this board.
archkre
Well you know, the best level you can reach just with plain Adt2007 +some PS!
AJLynn
I guess I'd say "moderate". You can use Architectural materials similar to the Architectureal material for Max/Viz scanline, and use the Scanline renderer with Radiosity, but nothing "advanced" like glossies, really good GI, caustics, all the stuff you'd really want to be using Vray or mental ray for. No 3rd part renderers. No animation. All modeling must be done in ADT. Lighting, materials and cameras do come through. ADT on its own does have a limited mental ray renderer but it's not nearly as powerful as what you've got in Max or Viz. If they're serious about the rendering they'll save money in the long run, e.g. your billable time, by getting you more software. Viz 08 releases this month and will have Max9-like features. archkre
Is it possible to link an ADT file containing the 3d building (with adt walls/roofs/doors/window) to Max/Viz and once there convert those into edit.polys to make the adt meshes less stiff (by adding some edge chamfers/ noise/ mesh smooth and so forth)? Thanxx
AJLynn
If I had the software here I'd try it, but I'm 99% sure that's a yes, though I'm not sure whether you'd link the file or import it. You can get a trial download of Max or Viz from the Autodesk web site and try it.
Justin Hunt
Yes, linking ADT dwg files is very powerful and flexible. Yes it is possible to add Edit poly modifiers, although the model can sometimes get a bit screwy. JHV
