Kerry Thompson
Hi My first image post on this site. WIP of a house I am modelling in ADT4 and rendered with Viz Render. Backgrounds and props still to be added. Any comments welcome Kerry Thompson House 01 House 02 House

bigcahunak
Hi Kerry I think thats it ain't only your first post; its also the first work I see that was done in ADT4 and its viz renderer. Materials look flat and tiled, and lighting still needs alot of adjustment. I have no idea whats that internal viz renderer capabilities... it might just be the best it is able to - I just dont know. Good luck.
taufux
ya as what bigcahunak said ur mapping is a bit flat u better increase the bump or try to lowwer down the brightness of ur scene cos ur scene is quite look like the sun is burning ur house and the shadow is too strong to ur scene also  . r u using the raytrace shadow? if not u better try it out! mbr
Is the glass reflective? Try making it darker, but more transparent. That will help a lot. The grass looks too yellowish, or too bright. How many lights are you using? You can get away with 3 sometimes, but often you'll need to use a ring or two to soften things up. There is a very helpful tutorial by Delfoz somewhere on here... Kerry Thompson
Hi Thank you for your comments. Basically, the textures are straight out of the box linked, back the the AutoCAD rmat command and I have not applied any bump maps as yet. They do need quite a bit of work. As far as the lighting, I have only the daylight assembly head in the model and have run radiosity to 85 %. Though the sunlight in New Zealand is very bright and contrasty, the shadows do lack detail. The glass is a Viz render standard "architectural" material and the rendering computes reflections. Some more work to do. Kerry
mbr
Maybe it's that they don't have anything to reflect? The glass in shadow looks fine, but the other doesn't look like it's reflecting the sky. I am guessing that it's a background image and not a sky dome? Try setting the background image to reflect, if it isn't.
bigcahunak
Ohhhh... I C Kerry, that was in autodesk VIZ? I thought you ment the viz internal remderer which is in the new ADT4...
choochee
Hey Kerry.... I noticed u bothered to model a lot of stuff but u lack some knowledge in rendering.... let me give u an advice : if u c that u can't get good results with the render, tweak the image in photoshop or paintshop to get vivid plants, soft shadows, more reflection etc... Kerry Thompson
Hi Bigcahunak The renders were done in Viz Render which is part of ADT4. Like Viz 4 but limited material editing and very limited modelling. The modelling is driven out of ADT object styles along with initial texture definitions. The Viz Render material editor allows changes to be made. The radiosity, photometric lighting and rendering is provided in Viz Render. mbr As far as the reflecting of the background in the windows, many of the the doors are open showing a view right through the house on to the background map. I am not using a sky dome at this stage as I was having trouble removing it from the radiosity calculation. Kerry
Kerry Thompson
Hi Choochee Thanks for the advice. The model also powers a set contract documents so the detail supports that aspect as well. Kerry
