Tim Saunders
You would think after doing 3d work long enough, I would know how to do this by now. Would anyone care to walk me through your proccess in making a sidewalk ramp like the image attached. I am modeling in viz, so any viz/max help would be great. jccloutier
I model in autocad but I would guess- Slice polys then move vertices down 6"?

Claudio Branch
A couple of quick ways: Draw the profile of the street/kerb/sidewalk and then use an extrude modifier. Change the Amount/Segment parameters to suit and collapse the stack to Editable Poly. From there, move the appropriate kerb vertices to street level (about 6") and also collapse them. Or Draw a plane with the desired length and width and segments. Collapse this down to Editable Poly and select the edge you want to be your kerb and extrude it 3 times to create the profile. Then it's just a matter of moving those vertices down to street level again. I used the second technique and modeled the example in less than 5 minutes... Hope this is helpful. Tim Saunders
I model by loft with different shape That's what I was thinking. It didn't work for me at first, it ended up squashed between the 2 shapes. I think it has to do with the vertices of the shape though. If one shape has less vertices then the other, it gets a little deformed. If you get a minute, do you mind showing a quick screen shot of your shape profiles you use? Tim Saunders
Nice, that tutorial looks good. I would prefer to do it by lofting, becaue I typically will use a map that has a bit of dirt that I can map along the gutter. Thanks guys.
