does anyone here just play around with vray and max to see what falls out of their brains? I'm making a few things at the moment, which will hopefuly look quite interesting, but possibly not economically feasible or entirely practical.

would it be worth posting some results here - or are these forums strictly for you know.... serious stuff.

wish i had time to play :(

I know what you mean mate, time is scarce.

But I want to do some interesting - perhaps even unique stuff. I'm job hunting with an eye to moving into CG imagery and I want to do some groovy stuff to boost my portfolio.

Most of my projects here in my current office are in HK, where we do a lot of rennovations to common areas of commercial/residential buildings - lift lobbys and the like. It's driving me nuts. The clients never want to spend more than about eight quid and the spaces all look the bloody same.

I do a lot of product development in my "free time" for some extra cash. So I get my fair share of non-architectural stuff.

Also though about posting it here, but thought the site is reserved for architectural/interior design only.

Ive done a couple of cool retail things, like fridges, shelves etc.. all themed/designed for a spedific product. Last week I designed a phone booth, and the client loved it, so hopefully soon they will be all over Cape Town :)

Okay lets stop talking and start posting.......who goes first?

sterealkey: How did you get into freelance work for designing/rendering products? Did you contact companies and show your portfolio? Just curious.

I, just like many if not all of you, have little time to "play" around with Max and Vray. Work consumes most of my time and energy and I find myself starting too big of a project at home and never finishing it. I have several unfinished files at home that will never get touched again. I think that if I will doing product design renders or simple interior images as a side job then I would be more focused to finish and make money. Do any of you find this to be true with your "extra" time.
