This is my first try with vray & max 6 Please advise any setting is high or anything that I can do to improve this. I am not sure but rendering time is about 30-45 min @1024x768 including calculation of irradiance map. Caustics are also turned on. All materials are vray material. C&C welcome.

Well, you could try increasing inerp samples as far as the irradiance map is concerned. But, those splotches on the wall are from photon map. But its a long story, checkout vray.info and vray forums for tutorials on those.

My quick suggestion would be try with "max density=1" search distance = 5 and lights diffuse subdivision at 2000.

Here is the image with those settings Thank you pailhead but I don't see that much diffrence. Is it because of using irradiance map ? Should I only use photons ? filepush.asp?file=dining2.jpg

And exact rendering time is 12 min for irr. map calculation and 2 min for rendering.

Any other advice from vray masters to reduce rendering time.Hardware p4 2.4 , 512 ram

Thanks

Under Global Photon Map

I would try increasing your bounces to 30 or 40

Under Irradiance Map

Lower your First diffuse bounce multiplier to 1, your secondary bounces to .5 or .6

under the GBuffer/Color mapping

use HSV with settings like

Dark Multiplier 3

Light Multiplier 1
