Mall food court

I am adding a mini-major entrance here in the corner of this food court.

Here is the basic food court model. I have been playing with GI on this one, trying to get the glass doors to glow, as if sunlight where coming through. Obviously, it isnt working. This mental ray render has GI, caustics, and Final Gather.

So why isn't the glass glowing and what the heck are all those spots!?!?!?

Thanks

Nick

those spots are the photons-you have too few, increase it ten or twenty fold.

are you sure you're using GI?? because i don't really see any. it looks very flat.

well i know i'm using it, maybe not correctly tho. thanks for the comment. So I'll be increaseing the photon emmissions from my lights then?

I am really just trying to get the windows to glow. i see so many interior shots with nice glowing windows, and the reference photo i am using, has it.

I figured GI was the way to do it, but I am not very experienced with GI. Thanks for your help.

here is the progress report. i think i am really starting to understand GI and caustics, although, time is running out on this project so it is what it is.

i figured out how to make the windows glow. The windows have been made the light source using GI. Still couldnt get the dielectric material to work for the shop windows so i went with a blinn (my old skool way).

Tweaked the photon count for the lights that are emmiting. Before I was accidentally using the photon intesity instead of count (DOH!)

There are still some issues to address but not sure i'll have time to get to them all. I have one more render coming down the pipe, that may be all for this one (unless i do some more on my own time)
