randomizer
this is my first attempt in architectural and realistic modeling and lighting. it's still very wip. give me your c&c
Alex Ryan Rubio
looking very good.. i can see some uneven surfaces/ splotchiness mainly oin the ceilings which im sure (since this is very much wip) will be fixed soon. a little more clutter would be nice.. software? specs? just for us to learn from you too? mbr
Very nice image. Your first? Really? You must have experience in other areas of 3D then. I've seen people that have done 100s of images not get quality like that. The reflections levels are good, the soft shadows are good, etc., things that take time to learn. Not to mention the background (and it appears you've learned them pretty well). Nice image, though. I would disagree about the clutter, it looks nice and warm now. Like it had been cleaned and after hours. I think the bg stairs, image, and reflections add some real nice depth. The only thing I notice is the darkness of the shadows, on the chairs in particular (it looks a little uneven). I'd like to see the specs, too. randomizer
i did it in maya and rendered with mental ray (used global illum and final gathering). the image is not in the final quality. as you can see on the right. until now i am still tweaking the light and completely redo it. i want to learn how mental ray and physical lighting works. my main problem is setting up a good physical sunlight and get it distributed in the room evenly. DelfoZ
only 1 thing... the exterior seems too blue and the interior too yellow.. i mean the lights.. Saludos
Mike
Very nice as said by others If it's really a first try... congratulations ! Could you tell us your work/educational background ? are you experienced in 3d ? what kind of scenes do you usually render ? :???:
randomizer
i worked nearly 3 years as freelance 3d artist.. as you can see on my homepage i mostly work an game graphics. i tried this architectural thing because i always want to learn new stuff. i like the mental ray renderer so i tried what i can do with it. the next thing i might try is to get a working IES shader for mental ray, because i am not that happy with the light distribution. maybe that will do the trick. Mike
Okay, i saw you personnal web site.. Maya knowledge is not very present in architectural renderings. Renderman is also a renderer not much used . I'd like to see more whith these tools... Congratulations Bye
randomizer
i think renderman is not very useful for such things. now i want to get deeper into mental ray. especially the physical lighting. i have big problems whith lights near walls that overexposure the scene. it's hard to use a quadratic falloff there. i hope that the IES profiles might help. is there any experience of max viz users who use them?
