shahrokh
Is there a way to import a 3d model from SOLIDWORKS to 3DSMAX? Rright now we are trying to send data to MECHANICAL DESKTOP and from there we get a dwg format to bring the model into 3DSMAX but problem is we lose surfaces and what we get is bunch of lines. any ideas? Thanx in advance. http://www.batworkshop.com/
MegaPixel
The last version of Solidworks I worked with was 2001 Plus over a few years ago. Our process for getting Solidworks to MAX was Stereolithography because of it's limited file type options. However, I never had any luck going the other direction, from MAX to Solidworks. We found that Solidworks was very unfriendly to imported surface topologies. Surely by now they've improved file type compatabilties and import/export, no? DWG is still the defacto standard AEC format and MAX does a great job creating DWG exports so I'd give it a try first. After that, not sure what to tell ya other then to look into 3rd party translators like "PolyTrans" to migrate stuff from platform to platform. konstantin
Use npower powertranslators. It will import b-rep data from solidworks directly into max. You can also export to iges, that max will import without any additional plugins. Isnt there nasty smoothing problems with an imported stl? MegaPixel
Very Nasty indeed - .STL looks plain ugly in MAX coming from Solidworks. However, I beleive the question at hand is, how can he get his MAX into Solidworks?
