Macpod
Just when i thought i had my hardware options figued out for the next upgrade. With these two things on the market i have the option of either shoving my old 7950 GT into into the XG and use it with a cheap GMA notebook OR shoving my E6600 into the C90 and upgrade my desktop to a quad. alot will depend on the price. If the Asus XG station is somewhere between 200-300AUD then it will have a big market. The thought of having a ultra-portable macbook that turns into a monster when connected to an external LCD sounds pretty enticing. Right now the Xg station wont work without an external monitor but i think that is changing. V2 will also bring in full x16 speed interface. The C90 on the otherhand sounds abit iffy. I dont like the price of the MXM cards, i think its around 350euros for a 7900GS.......hopefully ATI and Nvidia will develop these cards further to reduce cost. On the plus side you can upgrade it yourself with conroe CPUs and there an internal program that overclocks the E6600 to 2.9ghz! This way i will have somewhere to use my chip when i upgrade to quad core. Have a feeling this setup will not be the most economically viable though. Anyone interested in these? Im praying for the XG station to be cheap.
