Lebjos
Hi, Ive been a member of the forums for quite a while but havent posted much . I'm now writing because I have been experimenting with the vray engine and have been captivated by its power. I must first explain that I am first an architecture student and not a 3d modeler/animation student. Now heres where my questions come into play. In a couple weeks I have to present my final project including details, floor plans, elevations, ( the normal stuff ). As with most presentations I must have ext and int renders of my proposed solution. I have been reading up on many different vray techniques, materials, etc, I have emersed myself in the rendering engine after I have gotten ahold of it. I am curious as to what many of you have found to be good solutions/balance of rendering quality vs. time. I know this is not a simple answer but after researching I am a firm believer that VRAY is capable of remarkable results in a limited ammount of rendering time . What I am going to ask of the community is ideas/techniques to reduce my overall rendering times to achieve believable/above par results in image quality. I am new at this and can post what I have so far shortly, but am somewhat confused as to what I should be modeling for each render I want. I have modeled my ENTIRE building as well as SITE and am confused as to how to really reduce rendering/calculation times when I am only looking at a certain part of my model. Any help would be much appreciated. I was searching about the chaosgroup forums but cannot post there because of abuse from others I think I read. I have quite a few weeks until my final presentation. Any help and input would be much appreciated. I will be posting views of my model/site soon. Thank you in advance for the help, and im sorry for the long winded post! Thank you! Josh *edit* I always look to the cg forums before I go to the chaos forums anyway =) through the years I have been a firm believer in the quality of help and people on this forum! Keep up the good work!
sterealkey
Hi josh, If you only want to render a section of your model, then Vray will only calculate the necessary data. So if you have a model of a theme park and you only want to render a little water fountain, then just make sure that its in full view of your camera, then vray will only calculate what it sees. Please post some pictures of your project, then everyone can start giving you pointers on how to go about it. Peace.
Lebjos
Ahhh thanks very much, I thought that was how vray processed. I will be posting some screen shots of my model within the next hour to show you what im dealing with. Thanks for your input so far!
Lebjos
here are some basic renders of my model as it is currently. I still need to model my roof, and then place in the glass that will be behind those columns you see on the outside facade. I also dont have the materials on the model yet, but it is mostly concrete and precast concrete. When I get my materials and the interior furniture placed in there I will probably be back for some help =] thanks. Josh
