Used Software

I don't think Autocad is resellable. You'd need to get a list of resellers in your area from the Autodesk web site and contact the resellers. Depending on how much they want your business, it is at their discretion to give you discounts, but the way Autodesk has set it up with regional monopolies is quite anticompetitive, so it's up to you to go and try to introduce some negotiation and healthy competition into your process.

You can always try one of the sources for student software like journeyed.com or you could google around for others. They usually require a valid student ID and sometimes enrollment verification. You can find great deals this way but definitely keep in mind it's strictly non-commercial -meaning for educational purposes only- so it's not a legal option with regards to for-profit work.

mark68,

If you just want to learn - try the various downloads of the different apps they have available for free. Most usually have full functionality for 30 days without a license. Autodesk software can not be resold, and licenses are only transferrable when firms (holding licenses) are sold or merged, and still require Autodesk approval.

Beware the educational versions as they carry a watermark that stays in the file and wreaks all kinds of havoc if you even insert a block from and edu version into a commercial version. Anyone other than an authorized reseller offering a discounted or "used" version is not likely legit - and big brother A is always keeping an eye out for illegal users.

good luck!
