mangalore
I have been just a reader of the forum in maxwell, and i have liked every image i have seen in it until the fry appearance. Just for the fun of knowing something new. But i have noticed something interesting about the maxwell forum. Old posts not been deleted for a while. I mean they are from the old versions and still there cluttering the forum. A big silence from the part of NL concerning many questions of their customers. And also i would like to know why i can post in the maxwellrender dot it forum, and ask questions, and i can not do that in the maxwell forum. eventhough i am not a user of maxwell. I have seen many images in the fry forum after 10 minutes of rendering that you can not get in maxwell in the same amount of time.
Adehus
I have seen many images in the fry forum after 10 minutes of rendering that you can not get in maxwell in the same amount of time. Frankly, *that* is why you can't post at maxwellrender.com forums. Maxwell suffers in a variety of ways compared to Fry and various other renderers, and if non-users were able to post, they would just ask about missing functionality in Maxwell (compared to Fry, etc.) and basically the place would be anarchy. Actually, every few months or so it becomes anarchy anyhow (because even licensed users are unhappy with how Maxwell compares to Fry)... they just ban a person or two to spook everyone into being silent for a while. So... if you're asking for an opinion on which is better, I'd guess you can figure out what my recommendation would be!
Devin Johnston
The Maxwell forum was at one time open to anyone but that was before the RC releases and all the kayos that happened during that time. Now the forum is strictly controlled so that dissenting voices are kept to a minimum which is one reason why this forum exists, Jeff was kind enough to give us a place to talk about these issues. Maxwell has some disadvantages when compared to Fry the least of which is NL it's self and their attitude that the customers opinion doesn’t matter. Fry may very well become the leader in this race if NL doesn’t do something to close the gap.
