Michael Emo
Probably a dumb questions, but how do you convert an instance of something into an original (ie...non-Instance), so I edit it without editing the original one? I know 'COPY' but I don't want to take the time to carefully place the object again so if there is a way to do this, can someone point me in the direction Thanks! Nils Norgren
With the object selected, in the modifier panel (second Main panel, on the right side) there is a small button under the modifier window (where you see the base object and any modifiers), this button will make an object a non-instance (a full fledged copy), the button has a sphere with two arrows under it and two spheres at each end of the arrows. I don't have Max in front of me but if memory serves this is what you are looking for. -Nils
Michael Emo
Thanks Nils! I see the little button now. It is called 'Make Unique' which oddly enough is appropriate, but I would have never thought to search for that term. On the object I have selected, the option is greyed out so I can't click on it. It is a SPLINE with EXTRUDE and then UnWRAP UVW Modifiers applied. I tried removing the UnWRAP UVW but that didn't 'un-grey' the button for me. Any suggestions on how to get the button to be active? Thanks again for your help!
Michael Emo
Nevermind! I figured it out. I was accidently selecting the wrong object which wasn't an 'instance'. Some days just aren't as good as others...haha
own1221
Is it possible to make an object that was made unique "un-unique" other than undo? i.e. make a selection and have all the objects experience the same modifications after making it un-unique?
