batteryoperatedlettuce
I'd say it's far from 100% refractive. It looks kind of milky in the photo. Try lowering the refraction and adding a tiny bit of fog with a very low fog multiplier value .02 - something like that.
mfured20
i did something like this earlier this week, actually... mine came out more like the attached image [this one was a test, but its the only one handy for me to load]. i ran a smoke map in my transparency channel, with a noise falloff reflectivity. i also threw a couple of vray lights into the center of it, and set them to only include the fixture itself. i guess i also put a little noise modifier on the tubes themselves to give it a little variation. it might not be exact, but it might give you a few ideas. carlangas
thanks for the suggestions guys. today was the deadline so I didnt have much time to play with it. I added a little haziness to the refreaction, this is what it looks like...

jophus14
Hi everyone, I remember reading this post when it was first posted and I'm glad I did. I have been asked to recreate the attached image, which is along the lines of the lighting that was created by others on this thread. It is basically a bunch of small balls linked together to form strands on metallic beads that hang down off of the fixture. What is the best way to model this fixture? If I make ten thousand spheres and group them into 500 strands the file is going to collapse on me. I would like to hear some suggestions for all of you. Thanks.
