STRAT
yup. good thing in the UK you have a standard 30 money back garantee on unorthorised credit card transactions. i woke up to a letter in the post from one of my credit cards last month informing me i owed them an extra 3.5 grand on the bill. after telling them i hadn't spent this money they instantly wrote off the bill. Ernest Burden III
after telling them i hadn't spent this money they instantly wrote off the bill. Pending investigation? Merchants can challenge chargebacks, though the system is tilted towards the cardholder.
STRAT
yup, they did (and still are as far as i know) running their own investigations on the transactions, but within a few mins during our initial phone conv they were convinced it wasn't me spending that money. they had not much choice but to re-fund me and issue a new card. cleblanc
It's worth noting that a check card may not provide the same protection, even though it can be used like a credit card. When the check card number is used for an unauthorized purchase, your money comes out of the account immediately. Most banks will reimburse you eventually but in the meantime you can be left without access to the cash. I am sure policies vary, but it is probably best just to use an actual cc if concerned about fraud. -Chris

Fernando Lino
In Peru…There is a big mafia cloning debit and credit cards, they started several years ago but still using the same technology…They attach a devise on ATM (where you insert the card) and another hidden camera looking the dial to catch the PIN#...so the devise copy the information from your card and they got the password from the camera(the camera can be even a cell phone) …after get the info it takes no more then 2 minutes to download the info and clone the card and two minutes later they clean your account…so before using an ATM check it out first.
