louis.cho
I have a question related with this thread: http://www.cgarchitect.com/vb/23258-process-stages.html My thoughts can seem unstructured but I begin to be a bit lost in all that. Light are put in place before texturing. I understand that a texture without good light is useless but how judge a light wf they are no texture to reflect it? Do you place all of them with average settings? If you want to put a very reflective material do you take it in consideration? What kind of material is use to do that kind of studies and when are you satisfied with your light setup to begin texturing? Thanks
Crazy Homeless Guy
texturing and materials typically require test renders to make sure they look right. you need lights in place to do test renders. that being said, ...you will probably wind up refining your light settings after your textures are set. guitarboy
Its more a little bit of give and take, the way i set up my scene is i generally give my entire model the default vray material and then throw in a lighting rig that i know will give me results close to what im wanting, the reason i do throw textures into my model straight away is because it increases render times alot. once im happy with my general lighting setup, ill add my textures and re-render. then its a matter of tweaking the lights and materials until your happy, if a light/s is too bright or dull, or a material isnt reflecting properly, etc. i enjoy this process, it might not be the best way to do things, but i find it works best for me for now. FlytE
My process is similar but as I go, the draft renders I create I will then work up in photoshop almost as much as if they were the final draft. For the final render this gives me a clear idea of what needs to be rendered and what doesnt. I also find that the final photoshop attempt is always better the previous ones so the overall quality tends to be better. I love photoshop
